As the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from Sept 25 to 27 approaches, Yangzhou in East China's Jiangsu province is preparing a diverse lineup of cultural and leisure activities across its major scenic areas.
Slender West Lake
Slender West Lake is one of the places not to miss this Mid-Autumn Festival.
The squares on both sides of Wuting Bridge will host a range of activities on Sept 25 and 26, including immersive encounters with Chang'e and the Jade Rabbit, traditional music and dance performances, poetry challenges, and riddle games. As night falls, a moonlit concert celebrating family reunions will set the festive mood.
Visitors can also join a traditional moon-worship ceremony and experience one of the festival's oldest customs at 8 pm on the day of the festival (Sept 25).
Mingyue Lake

Mingyue Lake will host two drone light shows at 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm on Sept 24.
The drones will form an image of a lush osmanthus tree, with a small table beneath it set with a wine pot and cups, while a full moon hangs overhead, evoking the traditional custom of enjoying wine while admiring the moon and osmanthus.
Another display will feature glowing kongming lanterns rising slowly into the night sky, symbolizing people's wishes for family reunion and happy life.
Geyuan Garden
Geyuan Garden will celebrate the festival with activities centered on bamboo, moonlight and traditional Chinese aesthetics.
The program includes family poetry gatherings, moon-viewing activities, traditional music performances and cultural events featuring local artists.
The garden will extend its opening hours to 10 pm from Sept 25 to 27, allowing visitors to enjoy the autumn night among bamboo shadows and lantern-lit gardens.
