At 146 m, Nashan Mountain is the second highest peak in central Jiangsu.
Five million years ago, lava from a volcanic eruption cooled, creating a forest of stone pillars that stand tall in various shapes. This landscape is considered one of the world's top ten volcanic rock column formations.
The volcanic ash soil in this area is rich in trace elements, which contributes to the production of a local green tea known as Lyuyangchun. A visit to Niashan Mountain in spring offers both a geology lesson and a cup of fresh tea.
