Scenic areas in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, received many tourists during the five-day May Day holiday which ended on Tuesday, with preferential tourism policies and wonderful performances provided to visitors.

Many scenic areas have launched special activities and performances to attract visitors. The Slender West Lake scenic area, known for its many beautiful views and historic sights, organized a series of events for tourists to admire flowers and taste delicacies. Guyuan Garden and Heyuan Garden also gave visitors the chance to watch cultural performances.

During the holiday, visitors who bought tickets to Slender West Lake, Guyuan Garden, Heyuan Garden and the Museum of Guangling King's Tomb received an equivalent tourism card, which allowed them to enjoy preferential treatment in the four scenic spots as well as nearly 200 restaurants and hotels.

As online visiting became popular among visitors, some scenic areas also encouraged visitors to share their travel stories on online video platforms such as Douyin, a leading short video platform in China.

All of the scenic areas took stringent COVID-19 control measures, including requiring online reservations for tours and limiting the number of visitors to prevent overcrowding, according to officials.

Tourists were required to have their temperatures checked, show a health code upon arrival and wear masks during their visit. With measures carried out in a prompt and proper manner, scenic areas maintained safe and orderly operation in the five-day holiday.
