Construction started on the Chengdu Garden for the 2021 International Horticultural Exhibition in Yangzhou Aug 13.

It is the second city garden to go under construction after the Xiamen Garden. Construction on the Beijing, Shenyang and Taiyuan gardens will be carried out in the near future. The Xiamen Garden will be completed in November.

Under the theme of "Comfort Chengdu", the Chengdu Garden will be built in the shape of a panda, with its gate taking Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding as a prototype. The round hall will be painted in black and white like a panda's body.

The main hall will be surrounded by water, on which flowers will float. Colorful fields of flowers will decorate the outermost area. The panda-shaped mascot of the Chengdu 2021 World University Games will also be displayed.

The interior of the garden will be decorated with bamboo panels displaying local gardening works. With digital photoelectric virtual and augmented reality, visitors can enjoy views of urban parks in Chengdu.

The International Horticultural Exhibition, the world's top horticultural exhibition which showcases the latest horticulture technologies and collections, will be held in Yizheng city, Yangzhou, from April 8 to Oct 8, 2021.
