Tourism regains vitality in Yangzhou

As the novel coronavirus outbreak in China becomes more subdued, the tourism industry in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu province is beginning to pick up.

On the morning of March 21, 79 tourists from Nantong arrived in Yangzhou for a short vacation, the first large tour group that the city has received since its scenic attractions reopened in late February.

With a history of more than 2,500 years, Yangzhou is an ancient city filled with beautiful scenery, tasty food and a rich culture. Spring is the best season for travelers to taken in the city's incomparable charm.

Xia Xinmin, Party chief of Yangzhou, welcomed the tour group from Nantong and suggested the tourists walk around Slender West Lake and visit some gardens nearby.

"Yangzhou is home to an endless array of delicious food and also an important city along the Grand Canal. Eating the food and taking a boat down the canal at night are two things travelers must experience," said Xia.

A tourist from Nantong said that Yangzhou was her top choice for travel now that the coronavirus has been largely controlled. "It has been an alluring place since ancient times, especially in March."
