Those yearning for a winter trip should consider Yangzhou in East China's Jiangsu province.

The city has recently launched a tourism festival based on the theme of healthy living. The festival, which is planned to run until February next year, will feature six major tourism activities.

Visitors to the city are not only able to enjoy beautiful scenery and taste delicate Huaiyang cuisine, but also gain first-hand experiences of how to stay healthy in winter.

Tickets to Slender West Lake, a renowned scenic attraction, will be offered at a discounted price during the festival.

The fee for the scenic area in January and February next year is set at 30 yuan ($4.47) and 60 yuan respectively.

Here are some more highlights currently underway or set to be held in the city:

From Dec 7 to Jan 12, visitors wearing Han clothes are able to tour the Daming temple at a cost of one yuan. They could also receive a gift of exquisite wind chimes and experience a local blessing ceremony.

In the second half of December, Yangzhou will organize 10 online celebrities to experience both local traditional cuisine and modern dishes. These will be broadcast online over a three-day period.

From Dec 21 to Jan 29, visitors can experience some traditional Chinese techniques for staying fit.

From Oct 26 to Jan 17, they could also participate in a cultural festival themed around staying healthy, with local experts showcasing how to make traditional paste recipes and how to identify the authenticity of traditional Chinese medicinal materials.
