The match day was just one day before this year's Dragon Boat Festival mini-vacation. While players on the field gave their all, off the pitch, the cities of Changzhou and Yangzhou announced reciprocal free admission to tourist attraction for residents of each other's cities.
"I was originally planning to go elsewhere for the holiday, but when I saw Changzhou's announcement, I changed my itinerary on the spot," said Guan Zhihua, a Yangzhou resident. "I've always wanted to visit the China Dinosaur Park but never had the opportunity. This policy allowing Yangzhou residents to visit Changzhou for free has finally made this possible."
Yangzhou swiftly responded with its own set of preferential measures for Changzhou residents. Attractions in Gaoyou, a county-level city of Yangzhou, such as the Yucheng Postal Stop and Wenyoutai, were open to Changzhou residents free of charge during the holiday.
"The soccer match brought about this friendly display between Yangzhou and Changzhou," said Tong Jianjun, the vice president of Yangzhou Football Association. He emphasized that the original intention of Suchao was to promote "mass participation and urban pride" and to "facilitate the in-depth integration of football with other fields".
