Experience May-June Yangzhou cultural splash

Yangzhou has organized a cultural tourism extravaganza that will run from May through June.

In the Yangzhou International Horticultural Expo Garden, the International Straw Art Festival beckons with stunning straw artworks portraying forests, oceans, and other marvels of the world.

A cultural week revolving around Yangzhou's traditional morning tea will unfold from June 6 to 8 at Quyuan Teahouse and the Huaiyang Cuisine Museum of China. Renowned morning tea shops will unveil their latest masterpieces, while master chefs from UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy across China demonstrate their culinary artistry.

A fruit-picking carnival will grace the Zaolinwan Ecological Park in June. Participants will be able to pluck seasonal fruits, as they savor the bounty of nature. At the same time, agricultural adventures, handicraft workshops, a rustic food market, and family-oriented games promise a day of joy and discovery.

An exhibition at the Yangzhou Eight Weird Memorial spotlights Taiwan's calligraphy and painting, underscoring the strong cultural bonds shared between both sides of the Taiwan Strait and embodying the harmonious spirit and noble aspirations passed down through Chinese civilization.

Meanwhile, at Gaoyou Museum, an exhibition featuring 19th-century European prints of global canal cities will transport visitors through time, revealing the historical charm and humanistic spirit of these waterway hubs.

Yangzhou is inviting international students to explore its garden aesthetics, traditional crafts, Huaiyang cuisines, and other cultural gems. Through the cross-cultural lens of foreign youth, Yangzhou tells its timeless tales to the world in the captivating forms of vlogs and short videos, which are popular among the tech-savvy and trend-conscious Generation Z.
