The annual flower festival typically held at Slender West Lake in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, held its opening ceremony online on April 9 in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

More than 100 types of flowers, including cherry blossoms, peach flowers, malus spectabilis, Chinese snowball bushes (Viburnum macrocephalum), and Chinese herbaceous peonies, will be blooming throughout the month, providing visitors with some truly breathtaking scenery.

The best time to admire these five flowers are as follows -- peach flowers from March 5 to April 10, malus spectabilis from March 20 to April 15, cherry blossoms from April 1 to 25, Chinese snowball bushes from April 10 to May 10, and Chinese herbaceous peonies from May 1 to 20.

A variety of activities will also be held at the park, including traditional Chinese dancing, food festivals, model shows, and light shows.

Every weekend from April 8 to May 8, a performance featuring hanfu, a form of traditional Chinese clothing, poets, and Chinese dancing will be held.

This year, visitors will also be able to enjoy the beautiful spring views of Slender West Lake online through various live-streaming events.

After more than 10 years, this annual event has transformed into full-fledged cultural festival featuring flowers, art, folk customs, and food, according to the organizer.
