Yangzhou horticultural expo to run until October

The 2021 International Horticultural Exhibition opened in Yangzhou on April 8.

The exhibition, which will run until Oct 8 at the Zaolinwan Tourism Resort in Yizheng city, showcases the latest horticulture technologies and collections, according to officials.

The event features various international floral events that exemplify the horticultural exhibition's spirit and demonstrate China's achievements in ecological development.

With rich and varied plants at the expo, 27,800 trees over 6 meters tall and 770,000 square meters of short shrubs have been installed in the exhibition gardens, with more than 50 percent flowering plants.

Visitors are expected to spend about three to eight hours touring the 230-hectare exhibition that features 64 outdoor domestic and foreign exhibition gardens embodying the principles of a green city and a healthy life. 

The 26 outdoor domestic exhibition gardens include 20 city gardens and six enterprise gardens, with different charms of Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Shenzhen, Xi'an, Xiamen, Sanya, Hong Kong, Macau, Chengdu, Lhasa, Jiaxing, Qingdao, Jinan, Hefei, Zhengzhou, Taiyuan, Yulin, Harbin, Yili, Shanghai Volkswagen, Jiangsu Huajian Co, Changzhou Xiaxi Flower and Tree Market, Yangtze River Group, Yangzhou Vocational College of Tourism, and Hongyue Hongcai Co.

The 25 outdoor foreign exhibition gardens feature 16 metropolis over the world, including Orleans, Breda, Nara, Fukuoka, Philadelphia, Sydney, Rome, Suncheon, Bangkok, St Petersburg, and Barcelona.

International organizations such as the Sino-South Korea Cultural Friendship Association, the World Historic and Cultural Canal Cities Cooperation Organization and the World Green Design Organization are also showcasing their gardens.

In addition, 13 cities in East China's Jiangsu province reproduced their iconic views and tourist destinations at the exhibition.

The International Horticultural Exhibition is the world's top horticultural exhibition and the world's largest. The event has been held in eight Chinese cities including Kunming, Xi'an, Qingdao and Beijing. This is the first time it is held in a city in the Yangtze River Delta region.
