The Food Block of the 2021 International Horticultural Exhibition will finish construction by the end of December, local media reported on Nov 5.

The 5,000-square-meter food block will include parts of the Folk Custom Village of the Jiangsu Horticultural Exhibition as well as Baihua Square in Yizheng, a county-level city in Yangzhou and the host of the international horticultural expo.

Officials said that the food block will feature Yangzhou specialties such as Huaiyang cuisine as well as representative dishes from Cantonese, Hunan and Sichuan cuisine. Local food from Japan, South Korea, Europe, America and other countries will also be provided.

The Yangzhou fried rice specialty store will definitely be a place worth visiting. It is located in the Folk Custom Village and will provide Yangzhou fried rice made by standard local processes, according to Yin Yiping, secretary-general of the Yizheng Catering Chamber of Commerce.

Yin said that visitors can also enjoy popular Huaiyang dishes in the restaurant such as Scalded Tofu Shreds (Da Zhu Gan Si) and Lion's Head Meatballs (Shi Zi Tou).

Yin added that various traditional Chinese desserts from Yizheng will be offered as well in a 1,000-square-meter hall within the block.
