Yangzhou ranked 33rd among the top 100 best-off prefecture-level cities in China with a reading of 119.16, according to a recent report released by Competitiveness think tank and the China Information Association in Beijing on Nov 21.
Shenzhen, with a reading of 152.23, topped the list, followed by Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi, Zhuhai and Nanjing.
Among the top 100 cities, 51 are located in the eastern part of the country, 22 in the center, 21 in the west and six in the northeast.
Two county-level cities – Yizheng and Gaoyou – made the list of the top 100 best-off counties in China, ranking 51st and 77th respectively.
According to the report, China's well-off society index rose 2.12 percent from 2017 to 99.18 in 2018, with a benchmark of 100, indicating that China has achieved its goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
