At the 11th China-Japan-South Korea Cultural Ministers' Meeting held in Inchon, South Korea on Aug 30, Yangzhou in Jiangsu province was designated as a Culture City of East Asia 2020.
The three ministers of China, Japan, and South Korea awarded the title of Culture Cities of East Asia 2020 to the bid-winning cities of China's Yangzhou, South Korea's Suncheon and Japan's Kitakyushu.
Yangzhou, an ancient city with a unique cultural status and distinct cultural identity stood out among six candidates in China including Wenzhou, Zhejiang province and Dunhuang, Northwest China's Gansu province.
The China-Japan-South Korea Cultural Ministers' Meeting is one of the important ministerial meeting mechanisms among China, Japan and South Korea. It offers a great opportunity for the three ministers to exchange opinions on a regular basis.
