5-meter scroll affords magnificent view of Slender West Lake

(chinadaily.com.cn)Updated: 2019-08-26

The Twenty-four Bridge Scenic Spots, Lianhua Bridge: the scroll slowly lays out and beautifully presents the splendors of Slender West Lake in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province.

It took over half a year for the artist, Ding Yongxiang, to complete his 5-meter long Chinese landscape painting, All the Way along Pavilions to the Mountain, which showcases overall views and the poetic imagistic beauty of the lake.

In the painting, peach trees and green willows grow alongside the lake, pavilions are distributed properly and gardens are connected with each other.

The gardens in the Slender West Lake can best represent the flourishing garden construction in Yangzhou, said Ding. His artistic works aim to reflect Yangzhou's garden culture through depictions of the scenery.

Ding added that he is planning to paint the second edition of All the Way along Pavilions, which will add more characters and activities, such as stories related to a talented young man and a beautiful young lady.
