Yangzhou in East China's Jiangsu province saw a tourist surge during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 7 to 9.

Official data shows that during the holiday, the city's eight main scenic spots received 192,200 tourists, a year-on-year growth of 5.35 percent, among which Slender West Lake alone received 89,200 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 2.25 percent.

Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional cultural festival in China. Scenic spots in Yangzhou organized various cultural activities to mark the festival, and to attract tourists.

Slender West Lake prepared a riddle competition, while Heyuan Garden organized a zongzi (Chinese rice dumpling) activity.

"The ancient city (Yangzhou) boasts picturesque scenery, and the activities and services were splendid," said a tourist from Shandong province.

Volunteers in Yangzhou provided all-round services at 60 service spots around the city for tourists during the holiday.
