A local Huai opera troupe brought the famous opera Pearl Tower (Zhen Zhu Ta) to a nursing home in Xiaji township, Baoying county, Yangzhou, East China’s Jiangsu province on Feb 12.
The opera troupe recently organized a tour in Xiaji’s communities, squares and rural areas to benefit local people and to promote the art of Huai opera.
Huai opera, originated in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), is popular in Jiangsu province, Anhui province and Shanghai. It was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.
