Yangzhou Sports Park, holding the venues of the 19th Sports Games of Jiangsu that is set to open on Sept 21, was illuminated with colorful lights for the first time on Sept 1.
The lighting effects include depicting various sports on street lights surrounding the venues and animations of three cartoon figures taking part in sports on the outer walls of stadium.
The design team for the lighting system is from Nanjing CEC Panda Lighting Co Ltd. The team undertook the lighting project in the Youth Olympic Village in Nanjing for the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics.
"The lighting effects will showcase the beauty of the venues' appearances at night," said Zhang Rong, deputy director of the Yangzhou Municipal Sports Bureau. "We have consulted experts in light management so that you will be able to see the outline of the sports park at night from Wenchang Road and Sports Park Road."
The lighting effects will last until Sept 28, when the 19th Sports Games of Jiangsu is set to close. After the sports games finished, the venues will light up for festivals or big events. Different effects will be on show in the evening and later on in the night.
"The lighting system can also benefit local residents who exercise in the park at night," added Zhang.
As well as their dazzling light effects, the energy-saving LED lights in the design of the lighting means that only 300 watts of electricity will be consumed each hour.
