Summer used to be an off-season of Yangzhou tourism yet with the help of this year's "Summer in Yangzhou" promotional series, the city has seen a surge of tourists this summer.

Yangzhou enjoyed a 30-percent-growth in visitors last summer, and the good trend has been maintained this year as scenic areas including Daming Temple and the Museum of Guangling King's Tomb in Han Dynasty received 247,700 visitors in July, a year-on-year increase of 20 percent.

July saw nine days that in which the Slender West Lake scenic spot received over 10,000 visitors. It was a new record as the landmark has never embraced such large crowds in summer. More than 70 percent of rooms in surrounding hotels were also reserved.

A total of 11,135 tourists visited the spot on Aug 4, including 3,873 students, an increase of 70.2 percent year-on-year.
