A summit on the future development of Yangzhou's semiconductor industry commenced in the city on April 22, attracting prominent experts and entrepreneurs.

In the wake of Yangzhou's establishment of a micro-electronics park in 2017, which attracted many domestic and overseas enterprises, the city's semiconductor prospects have attracted much public attention. You Zheng, a native Yangzhou resident and vice president of Tsinghua University, China's top educational institution, described this as "very promising".

You said that MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical system), a kind of sensor technology that has been widely used in automobiles, medicine, and smart wearable devices, has a bright future in Yangzhou.

"Technology related to the internet of things and radio frequency have taken root in Yangzhou, which has helped the city lay a solid foundation for a sensor industry and will further bolster its development," You said.

Professor Zhang Yuming from Xidian University, who was intimately involved in the planning and construction of Yangzhou's micro-electronics park last year, shared his insights into a few of the crucial aspects of the park's development.

"First, the power device, which is one of the park's strong points, and should be made even stronger; second, the electronic components, which allow the park to make the most of the impressive intellect of China's higher education institutions and speed up its innovative development," Zhang said.

He has also considered the park undergoing a growing period in 2019, improving its industrial chain, attracting more enterprises, and speeding up the development of green equipment.

"The park is expected to become China's top-ranking MEMS aggregation by 2025," Zhang said.

An association for the intelligence industry has also been set up. The summit saw Yangjie Technology, a local semiconductor developer, joining hands with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China to provide training for students.
