With the spring season approaching, Yangzhou, a city known for its plants and water, has been welcoming the warm sunshine. Recently, colorful flowers in bloom have been appearing everywhere in this city, creating enchanting scenes.
March 5 marks the start of the Awakening of Insects, one of the 24 solar terms in the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, which will end on March 19 this year.
The Awakening of Insects period signals a rise in temperature and increased rainfall. As the third solar term in the lunar year, its name alludes to the fact that animals sleeping in winter are awakened by the spring thunder and that the earth begins to come back to life. It is the key time for spring agricultural activities.
