Yangzhou in Jiangsu province hits the track to boost Grand Canal culture as well as accelerate the development of the city.

Due to its natural resources, water transportation and salt industry policy, Yangzhou was a prosperous city in history.

However, as the age of seaways and the railway revolution were approaching, the glory of the ancient city, whose fate was bonded with the Grand Canal, slowly faded.

Yangzhou has been striving to roll out a raft of measures aimed at boosting the city's urban development along with the Grand Canal culture boom.

Seeing the success of Canal Sanwan Scenic Spot, the city sees it as a successful example of applying the canal resources.

The area was crowded with old factories, warehouses and shanty towns, which created a bad impression, said Li Dachong, general manager of Canal Sanwan Investment Development Co.

The relocation of the factories and the completion of the first and second phases of construction of the park refreshed the scenic spot, giving it a new image of abundant water and grass, and a pleasant environment.
