The second largest cycling marathon in China, the Yangzhou International Cycling Marathon, will this year take place on Mar 31.
According to the organizing committee, this year's cycling route is improved. The 210-kilometer route, that will take around 12 hours to complete, will pass through Yangzhou's five lakes and six districts, showing the most beautiful side of the city to the participants.
In addition to the stunning scenery of Yangzhou, participants can enjoy traditional Yangzhou cuisines during the competition.
"Yangzhou is the birthplace of Huaiyang cuisine, one of the four most famous cuisines in China. This year's event will supply some of the most distinguished Yangzhou cuisines, such as Yangchun noodles, Yangzhou steamed bun and wonton," said Wang Xuehui, president of Guangling district cycling association.
The organizing committee also unveiled the medal of the event on Mar 7. Based on the shape of the Dongguan ancient ferry, the medal is designed with 3D modeling.
"The cycling route is around the ancient canal, and the Dongguan ancient ferry is the most representative spot along the canal," said Wang.
The bottom of the medal is designed into a seal, as seal is one of the most representative elements of Chinese culture. The logo and date of the event can be stamped with seal-ink, Wang added.
The event has been held since 2017. About 2,600 cycling enthusiasts from all over the country signed up to take part this year.
