The wooden structure building, with a rough thatched roof and floor-to-ceiling windows, is a prime example of the integration of traditional and modern culture and nature.

The library, which has nearly 10,000 books, is divided into several parts, including areas for borrowing, reading, and leisure and entertainment.

According to Zhu Jun, curator of Yangzhou Library, the municipal library provides abundant book resources and electronic resources for the village library. Also it is equipped with the most advanced digital intelligent facilities, including facial recognition.

“At the same time, according to the actual needs of rural areas, the library is also equipped with themed bookshelves of gardening and planting to provide readers with more accurate and personalized reading services,” said Zhu.

As the first village library in Yangzhou, it is an attempt to boost rural cultural construction and promote local tourism. Two more village libraries are yet to be built in Yangzhou this year.
