Updated: 2018-12-03

The Grand Canal Cultural Belt Construction Research Institute inaugurated a new branch in Yangzhou in East China's Jiangsu province on Nov 28.

The facility, the fourth to open following those in Suzhou, Xuzhou, and Huai'an in Jiangsu, aims to further the integration of local research and academic resources of the Grand Canal.

Also known as the Beijing–Hangzhou Grand Canal, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is the longest and oldest canal in the world.
