Intangible cultural heritage month kicks off in Yangzhou

A series of events based on intangible cultural heritages commenced at Slender West Lake scenic area in Yangzhou on Sept 15. 

Several cultural elements including Yangzhou bonsai, woodblock printing and Yangzhou puppet were displayed during the event, attracting visitors from home and abroad.

Staff members in traditional customs also staged zither, pipa (Chinese lute) and tea performances in the scenic area.

This year's event aims to showcase the unique beauty of Yangzhou culture to the public.

"The Slender West Lake scenic area has been working on the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritages for a long time," said Jin Chuan, director of the scenic area.

Jin added that he hoped more people can understand and promote intangible cultural heritages.
